EVOLUTION OF THE TRADITIONAL POLITICAL SYSTEM IN MAMBILLA
Title
EVOLUTION OF THE TRADITIONAL POLITICAL SYSTEM IN MAMBILLA
Description
The Mambilla Region of Nigeria and Cameroon is an area of rich and remarkable history in Africa. Its history is not only interesting to read, it is splendidly phenomenal in the African context. This is an attempt to document the evolution of chieftainship among the Mambilla and how the Mambilla Chiefdoms have evolved to date. Evolution of the Traditional Political System in Mambilla is an effort at examining the very beginnings or the origin and early practice of traditional governance in Mambilla. The gaping lacuna that has lasted for too long pertains to the non-investigation of the origin and evolution of chieftaincy in the Mambilla Chiefdoms. This work is an introductory volume aimed at minimizing this gap.

Preface:
The Mambilla Region of Nigeria and Cameroon is an area of rich and remarkable history in Africa. Its history is not only interesting to read, it is splendidly phenomenal in the African context.
In February 2018, a couple of separate Government-graded Chiefdoms were established on the Mambilla Plateau. One of these, the Mambilla Chiefdom, is a First-class Chiefdom, having existed officially as a Government-graded chiefdom from 1965. New Third-class Chiefdoms were created throughout Taraba State in 2018, including the Mambilla Plateau.
Every people on earth have their own history. There is no society without its own history; and it is merely forlorn hope to suppose that the society can and should be entirely possessed of such a collective amnesia about their past. The Mambilla Chiefdom has so glaringly lacked a historical document that traces its traditions, in this regard, its chieftaincy roots and how chieftaincy was conceived, established, regarded and practised from ancient times.
